It is always easier to install the floor and then place the walls on top of it. this way you do not have to cut and fit the floor into each room and you have a bottom plate at the floor line to attach baseboard and drywall to. : Hi Terry, : i am about renovate my basement and was wondering if it were best to lay my subfloor first, then put up my walls or vise versa. This is a basic recroom, office and playroom venture with a half bath to follow later. I just bought this house, the foundation walls are framed in and insulated already.
