If there is any interconnection, it should be that the furnace discharge would surround the fire box to pick up the heat and move it into the room. Drawing air in, unless you have a sealed fireplace, would tend to create a downdraft at the fireplace and suck the fumes out of the fireplace into the ductwork, even if there were no leak.
: Our Fireplace has vents that are connected to the return air to our central heat system. It seems that return air flows around the firebox. Evidently it must have a hole cause smoke enters the central system when we use the fireplace. Any ideas there?
