: I have a 40 gallon Sears water heater, gas, glass lined, that has to be pulled to repair flooring underneath. It's about 18 years old. Wondering if it should be replaced--even though troublefree--or just put back after flooring repaired? Do glass lined water heaters eventually rust out?

Glass lined water heaters will at some point rust out. 18 years is a long time. Choosing to replace at your convenience has it's benefits. If it were my home, I would do it at this time. Terry
