Leaks around tubs can be tricky to locate.
A home built in 1959 could have galv pipes corroding where it meets the brass faucet. Soap dishes sometimes leak. Caulk all corners, between tub and wall, and around the tub spout, handles, ect. Locating leaks can be a process of elimination. Don't use the tub for a few days, baths if you have to, to see if things dry up. If they don't, you may be pulling off that "here to stay" tile.
