Insulation on hot water pipes in the basement.

Hi,

Our 75 year old house near Boston contained asbestos insulation on the pipes carrying hot water from the water heater in the basement. We got the asbestos removed some time ago, but the outside surface of the pipes is now bare. Since we leave in a colder area, is there going to be a significant amount of heat loss from the pipes? If there is going to be a lot of heat loss, what insulation would be good to put around the pipes?

Thanks!!
Sandy
