Dishwasher Not Filling Properly

I have a Kenmore dishwasher that seems to not fill the cabinet high enough. Water does enter at the appropriate times but the level appears to be low as if it is not getting enough water fast enough. Any suggestions or recommendations on how to resolve this problem?
