We just moved into a new home equipped with three Eljer 1.6 toilets. These things require several flushes to clear the bowl. I have taken drastic measures to reduce backups by cutting V grooves into the round plastic water reservoir that surrounds the flapper. My theory is that more water now exits the main tank, therefore creating a better flush. Does this make sense? Are there any other ways to increase flush velocity with this type of setup?
