If you really have PVC piping, you do have a problem. It is not approved for indooor use and is definitely an improper material for hot water. Copper is my material of choice unless the water is highly active against it. CPVC would be the next choice. PEX is becoming more popular, but in this area at least it has not had enough of a history to prove that it will not be the next PB fiasco.

: My home currently has pvc pipe. I've had several leaks over the past few months and it may qualify for replumbing under a class action law suit. What are the pros and cons of replumbing with copper, cpvc, and pex pipe. I live in southern New Mexico and the water is very hard.
