Fire Wall

In response to Fire Wall
When you penetrate the wall that seperates the garage from the living areas, you need to keep a fire rated wall intact. In most places it simply consists of 5/8" type X fire rated sheetrock on the walls and any ceilings that lead from the garage to any livable area or attic space above livable area. Also any doors need to be fire rated for the whole thing to work, usually 1 hour or better rated. You will be glad you did this when the gasoline in your garage catches on fire and so will your insurance company. I hope this NEVER HAPPENS TO ANYONE, but in case it does...
