|In response to Re: Toilet Installation|
: I just had new underlayment and tile installed in my bathroom. It raised the floor level
: a fair amount and now the toilet flange is a 1/4 to 1/2" below the finished floor. Is this
: too much gap to compress the wax ring properly? Are there extended rings available?
Most plumbing supply houses carry "closet flange extenders" which are flange shaped plates you can put down under the wax ring. They interlock, so you can use more than one without worrying about leakage. They are only about $5.00 for a set of three and come with long closet bolts. Using more than one wax ring is alway a gamble.
