Advice I've gotten elsewhere has led me to this solution. I will take the drain hose, run it up as high as possible under the counter, attach it, then bring it back down into the drain. By taking the drain pipe higher than any of the other plumbing in the dishwasher, the same effect should be achieved and there will be no leaking.
