If I understand your question correctly, it seems that the joint did not solder correctly. The first rule of thumb for me is to clean the inside and outside of the joint with scotch brite and a metal brush. Then apply flux and heat on one side of the joint. After 20 seconds of heat I touch the solder to the opposite side of the joint from where I am torching and if the joint is hot enough the solder will melt into the joint. Hope this helps.
