It is a dumb idea, since the union is a manufactured item that the installer has no control over. Also, if a sensitive test is conducted, you will find that the water itself is acting as a conductor and the dielectric union is often just window dressing. There are other fallacies to the dielectric union installation but they do look impressive. : I have a commercial client who has requested that I develop a specification for them to require field-testing by contractors of installed dielectric fittings on their new construction projects. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to perform such a test in the field?
