The only valve I recommend for that usage is the Delta Monitor series with the separate temperature and volume controls. You are contacting the wrong plumbers since this should take less than a couple of hours if you already have the wall open. Two hours and five minutes or less if he has to open the wall.

: I'VE BEEN FIGHTING THIS VALVE FOR 4OR 5 YEARS, REPLACED THE CARTRIDGE MANY TIMES AND NOW THE VALVE NEEDS REPLACED. THIS SHOWER/TUB IS IN THE BASEMENT, I HAVE ACESS TO THE BACK OF THE VALVE BY TEARING OUT A PART OF THE SHEETROCK IN A STORAGE ROOM NEXT TO THE BATHROOM. MY PIPES ARE COPPER AND ARE HARD PLUMBED TO THE VALVE. MY QUESTION IS WHAT IS THE BEST VALVE (brand and model) TO USE, AND WHAT SYSTEM DO I USE TO MATCH THE COPPER PIPE TO THE NEW VALVE, THE LOCAL PLUMBER WANT A $1000.00 TO REPLACE THE VALVE IF I DO ALL THE OTHER WORK. I AM FAIRLY COMPETENT AT HOME REPAIR AND HAVE THE REQUIRED TOOLS TO DO THE WORK. THANKS FOR ANY HELP. RON
