condensate pump

Can someone tell me what pipe #3 is. Does it have to be there? It goes up from my condensate pump turns 90 degrees, runs along side of the furnace and then turns up 90 degrees and is open on the top. Line #1 is from a dehumidifier. Line #2 is from the hvac unit. The condensate pump seems to...
