I'm having problems with water pressure. Usually first thing in the morning (When I'm in the shower) I will loose water pressure for about 5 min the the water will kick back on and it will be fine all day. The well is about 7 years old. I'm not sure if its the bladder tank or the switch any help would be great

OK, only happens in the morning so we have the well and pump sitting idle for 12+ hours. And doesn't happen again all day, so we can rule out the well running out of water due to a Hollywood shower. I suspect that the tube to the pressure switch is partiall clogged and is not reading the low pressure as the tank runs out of water in the morning. Take off the pressure switch, clean it out, both the tube into the pressure switch and the tube to the tee.

I replaced the switch and the pipe for it when i turned it on i watched the pressure go up to 50 and the pump shut off. I watched it go down to 30 and the switch clicked on then i watched the pressure go down to 10 psi and then the pump turned on in that 5 sec i lost water pressure. any ideas?

you could have a bad foot valve, or a pin hole leak in the pipe from your well to your house. I would also check your well-troll tank to make sure it is not bad just to rule out everything.

Are you maybe stretching that period of time a bit. Could it be more like 5 to 10 seconds instead of 5 minutes?

bob...

The morning i wrote the first post it was 5 min maybe more i had enought time to dry off get dressed and run down stairs to check things out

If the pump runs while you aren't using water, you have a leak. Probably the foot valve in the well but anywhere between the pump and the foot valve.

Then you can be losing prime of the pump or the water in the well is down too far for the pump or to the inlet of the pump/foot valve.. The pump isn't in the well right?

pump is in the well
well that rules out foot valve. Check the tank to see if its water logged. Tap the bottom of the tank to know what the sound is (like a thumb) then tap the top it you should hear a hollow sound. this will rule that out quickly.

Is the pump old or new could be a sign your pump is going. things act funny when they are going bad

You heard the pump turn on later than when you saw the switch click closed? Or you saw the pressure increase after a delay when the switch clicked close?

Do you have an above ground check valve?
