dleta model 1700 tub/shower issues

the installation instructions say that the word hot side should be on the left. also there is a "key" on the right side of the cartridge that should lock into a notch on the valve body.

I see this link was already posted.

if the cartridge was installed wrong it may be damaged to the point of needing replacement. If that plumber damaged it by incorrectly installing it he should pay, don't get taken by crooks.

i totally agree BAP i will be taking pics of the cartridges before i attempt to mive them but i know hot side is facing straight up on the main shower tub valve not sure about the hand shower valve though i will look tomorrow

If the hot and cold supply come in on the left and right of the body and the 2 circles are up and down, the body was installed wrong and needs to be re-piped. I feel sure thats the problem.

ah ok i got ya about the plumbing being ok but the body being wrong, guess the only way i can tell is to pull the cartrudge tomorrow and see what is up

my question though is if the body was installed wrong why do i look in the back panel and see hot going in the left side and cold going in the right? i installed the one in my basement and had no issues but it isnt all fancy like the deltas . why can't they just make stuff standard and back off all the fancy things they put into faucets now

If your refering to the water lines, it doesn't matter that the hot is on the left and cold on the right. what matters is the orientation of the valve body. when you take out the cartridge are the large openings in the valve body side by side or top and bottom.

take some pictures and post them it will help.

my god i can not wait to really get into this and see how bad this guy f@@@ked up these 2 valves. i paid him good cash to

it is a dis to me, especially when i talked to him and he gave me the run around about 2 weeks before he can get there and he will charge me. my big mistake was not having him put the handles on and check his work, but i guess i would have thought a compatent person would have done this.

I would avoid running water through this valve until you figure out what's going on. If the body is installed wrong, it means water is flowing through the cartridge backwards. I don't know if that would damage the cartridge, but it sure can't be good for it.

heck yeh

Ive installed so many types of T/S faucets that I can only give you my opinion
I will think more about it.If I come asolution to your problem I will post.
