i have a delta faucet and knob system in my shower. I want to replace the single knob i have to one of those cool temp regulator knobs. currently mine is the plastic, crystal looking knob that turns right for hot and left for cold? anyway i would like to change the spout too because it is loose and i can feel the pipes behind the wall moving when you jiggle the spout? should i be or can i do this project myself as a beginner or should i hire out? thanks for listening and for any suggestions :)

I never heard of a "cool temp regulator knob". To get the hot on the left side where it belongs, just take off the knob and rotate the cartridge 180 degrees and screw the knob back on.

To stop the spout from moving around, you can open the access panel behind the tub and wedge a shim behind the offending pipes. If you can't do this, you can put a bead of silicone caulk between the spout and the wall.

Assuming you want a temperature controlled valve...you need to remove and replace the valve in the wall. The tub spout el connection in the wall should be firmly anchored to something, either screwed down or strapped solidly. You can try to glue things in place from the front, but it will never be as firm as doing it right.

I think "cool" in this case is a synonym for "snazzy".

I'm sure you're right. Seeing the words "cool" and "temperature" next to each other usually signify something pretty specific on a plumbing website.

But it's all copasetic now.
