Intermittent Shower Leakage

Moved to this house several months ago and the shower has a problem. The water "on - off" controller is not part of the bathtub faucet set. It appears the pipes coming out of the wall were not a part of a package. The "rain" shower head is higher than the hardware coming out of the wall (several pieces put together). After using the shower, it realeases water for several hours in tiny gushes....is it missing some kind of pressure release valve or is there an easy fix? Is there any danger of something going seriously wrong? Thanks in advance.

Not sure there is much you can do about it...the pipe from the valve to the showerhead gets full. It is sort of like a straw with your finger over the end (the valve). If any air can get in there, some will leak out. WIth a tub/shower valve, that water isn't trapped after you turn things off and flows out of the tub spout. It is possible that the water valves have a slight leak, too.

If it's really annoying, you can get one of those shower heads with the shutoff button.
