HELP!!
I just had a new Gas Range delivered. They removed my old range and installed the new one. When asking for my signature they casually mentioned that the range didnt fit due to the location of the gas pipe!!! It sticks out from the wall about a foot.
The pipe comes straight out of the wall, about 35" up and on the right. It sticks out from the wall about 16"
It hits the back of the range, where there is a metal back.
Can the pipe be moved to accomadate the new range. Is this going to be a big ordeal, I live in a Condominium. Will they have to cut the wall.
I am not sure If I need to call a plumber to help me. If anyone have any advice to my next step I would appreciate the help. I am even willing to buy another range that has an opening in the top to accomadate the pipe, if necessary .
THANK YOU if anyone can help

Any possibility of cutting the pipe off just above the floor, re-threading and run gas flex up to the stove?

That sounds like a really odd set up. Most range connections are near the floor.

The pipe should be relocated to the space behind the ranges drawer, and have a shut off and a flexible connection.
Is there access to this pipe from under the floor? It could be reworked to come from underneath. Then the pipe sticking out of the wall could simply be threaded out and the pipe in the wall abandoned. You will have a small hole to patch, however.
This is definitely a job for a pro, though.

You will need to call a plumber or gas fitter and they should be able to correct the problem for you. You may want to check the Condo Assoc. rules and regs. there is an off chance that they may be responsable for the gas piping. I doubt it but I would check as you have nothing to lose by checking.

pipe

Since it comes from the wall, all a plumber should have to do is unscrew it and install a shorter pipe with an elbow to change its direction. Then, assuming there is enough room behind the stove at that point, it should slide all the way, or most of the way, back to the wall
