What kind of thread prep do folks recommend for the fine thread? Can one still use teflon tape?

Thanks for any advice,

Pete

This is not a tapered thread that provides a seal. Teflon tape may interfere with tightening. I would use a little telfon pipe joint compound, or even just some plumbers grease, to ease future removal.

Realize that the seal is made by the gasket, and not at all by these threads.

Hi Jimbo,

This fine thread is at the base of the shoe and is not the thread that the drain screws into. It is located at the base of the shoe and goes into the trap.

You can try a single wrap of teflon tape. If even that is too thick you will know it because you won' t be able to get it started. I just use the standard pipe joint compound.

Thanks hj, I'll try one nice, neat, and in the proper direction wrap.
