Urinal stoppages

Any tips on clearing urinal stoppages? I've got a new job and it's a service type plumbing job.

Take it off the wall and run a healthy snake through the drain to open it up.

Urinals can be nastier than toilets to open lines on.

A gallon of Muriatic acid one half at at time poured slowly into the urinal.

is there another name for muriatic acid? I have been warned that thrift will damage the porcelain

muriatic = hydrochloric. Commonly used in pool maintenance, so it's readily available.

I have had it etch toilet bowls.

Yes, but don't leave it in there for a prolonged time. Maybe that toilet was not in good condition. I never have seen that and I've seen a bunch......
