3. This was fun until...................I was adjusting the slippery life preserver I was sitting on, leaned to right and a wave threw me in the rope net which was reinforced w/ a taut, non-flexible, 3/8" metal cable. Guess I severly bruised a rib and later that night when I coughed, it cracked. Ouch!

1st I'll Check Prime

Today, I'll check for prime. Maybe I had run out of water but doubt it cause I put very little demand on well. Had only ran water for flushing one toilet, occassional limited dishwashing (hand) and some outdoor watering.

Could a tiny leak cause pump to lose prime about 1 month after I damn near rebuilt it and installed new venturi and/or cone. Surely not re-plugged w/ manganuism (sp?) again already.

Update: Shallow Well Jet Pump still had prime. I now hear some squauking/squealing in motor? and slight girgle or hiss sound. Maybe time to try a new pump. When I had it at a pump shop for consultation, he did hear that the bearings or rotor were worn some. I am not a motor head.

The new pressure gauge does not move off of zero and no water flow.

If the pump has prime, and power to it, and you don't get water... the jet is blocked or the impeller or the motor shaft has busted. I can't think of any other reasons.. a... the inlet to the drop pipe is blocked.

I'm sure you've realized that you shouldn't be taking very deep breaths for awhile... I hope you're taking care of the rib.

Thanks for the thoughts...

I put a "new" impeller on it in about 6 weeks ago. It wasn't brand new but same part from a local pump/well supplier. The only reason I had to replace it was cause I busted it when I was taking apart the pump...I misread the exploded view and I pried the impeller in 2....Oops!

Gary, you mentioned drop pipe to inlet....Is that the suction line down to the well? Maybe the backflow thing (I forget the name) is plugged?

Which one of these (or all of them) would explain the pump restarting 5 minutes after it's last normal run (1-2 mins to 50) & hovering around 30? Did that make sense? Where did the 20 pounds go in 5 minutes w/ no demand on?

My rib gets better every day. I only cracked a lower one which is cartilage so it seems to be healing faster.

Maybe I should post some photos of common Brazilian electrical & plumbing. I did a service call at a villa when I was in Brazil.

Thanks Again!

Motor Shaft

Maybe the motor shaft. Might be time to replace the whole damn pump. I can get my hands on a fairly new shallow well jet pump for cheap...FREE!

LOL! Wonder what that pump may have problems w/? :) Worth a try or two.

The drop pipe is the pipe that goes down the well, and the pump gets water through.

I the pressure was falling and the pump running when you weren't using water, you have a leak in the drop pipe or more likely is a leaking foot valve (a check valve on the end of the drop pipe in the well. Running like that the impeller could have melted if the pump generated enough heat.
