I was getting a Database Error right before it went off line.

Then Gateway Timeout and Bad Gateway.

Looks to be working now.

I think the board is still having issues. It has gotten slow lately and the "leave this page" prompt is back.

Hello,
At the moment we are only using 15% of our total storage capacity, so there shouldn't be any danger of running out of storage space.
Going to be looking into fine tuning the server to improve speed and efficiency tonight, so there might be unavailability between 11pm and 5am PST tonight.

Did Terry change providers lately ?
Looks like the website IP routing has changed.

In a way, yes. The routing change was because of a server hardware upgrade intended to make the site run quicker. This is a different server from before. I suspect the file system's block size on the new server is lower than the one used on the previous server. That might be what is causing the current bottleneck.

still having performance issues here.

Seems to be working fine here.

You may want to try "Tracert Terrylove.com" in a CMD window and see where the problem is.

The Forum server is a bit slow to respond, but it does not even come close to timing out.

We have a bad drive on the RAID that we will be having replaced.

Sounds like time for a few user donations.

A site like this does not come free, for Terry Love.

Keep up the good work. You need a Donate Button.

When there is a failed drive in a RAID set, it has to make up the missing bit which may affect performance. Also when the RAID set is degraded, the controller may turn off caching to safeguard the data.

Aside from fixing the failing hard drive, I think the php sessions folder might have been overloaded somehow because it wouldn't load and couldn't be worked on. I just did a simple folder swap/reset and it seems to have improved the speed a bit. Can anyone else confirm this for me?

We could probably speed it up even more if we optimize the databases again and get that hard drive fixed.

The site is definitely loading faster for me at the moment. Good job, Taylor!

At the sites I manage, I have this at the bottom of my footer.php:
?php echo get_num_queries(); ?> queries in ?php timer_stop(1); ?> seconds
...and that typically results in something like this:
60 queries in 0.454 seconds

Maybe you could add something similar here to help people see the difference between site speed and browser speed.
