Voltage drop in underground cable

We used to fix Gophers with a .410 Shotgun or .22 rifle, works good and last a long time.

Preventative Maintenance is a good thing.

Gentlemen I would like to thank you all for your input I walk the path of the wire and found what appeared to be a gopher hole I dug up the wire at that point and found a small nip in the wire. I cut that section out and reconnected the ends and have 120 volts at gfi receptical. Thx again for your suggestions.

Good Deal.

I hope you sealed the splice properly.

Did it kill the gopher ?

I bet probably not, Gophers do not go by the NEC rules.

As long as the gopher did not test the wiring with a light bulb before chewing on the wire, he should be OK. If he used a bulb, then who knows? We have lots of Moles here on Long Island

Can Moles See ?

LOL.

If there was a Lightbulb in the circuit it could have limited the current to 1 amp instead of the 20 amps from the breaker.

Gophers and Moles like Lightbulbs for a Zap protector.

Moles cant see Light, Or can they ?

Good thing they can't see us. They might think we are ugly like we think they are

I hope your kid does not dig in gopher holes with garden tools and hammers like mine. Your next dead gopher may have tennis shoes on and a tee shirt.
