Which Soldering Tip is the way to go

Whoa. Sorry. Wrong tip- i have the smaller top meant for Map/Lp . I just meant it to show the Body of the unit I have .

The smaller unit I was meant was this

No body or cylinder to mess around in a tight joist or studs with plumbing around it...

I have the Bernzomatic Mapp torch similar to or this model. I've not had a problem with soldering around any obstructions yet http://www.uneedit.com/industrial-e..._a_7cTS7000T&gclid=CPGr8_bE868CFYFo4Aodg2e9Yw
(I hope the link shows up smaller than I'm looking at now:p

I like the idea of the torch with a hose so as not to have to hold the tank itself, but in comparison, it is so much more expensive. I guess if I needed it more often, I'd spend the bucks for it. Hey, I KNOW I would.
Also, I've had no problem sweating 3 inch copper with it. I did exchange my 2 older Mapp tanks for the new ones. At Lowes; they made a big stink over it, but I had all the info printed out to show them the recall "they never heard about"

Glad I saw the recall notice posted here a couple of months ago by jimbo. thanks Jimbo!

3" Copper on LI. The land of the Romex ;-)
Call me old school. I'd sling BX any day all day.
What'cha running. A commercial kitchen during the weekends ;-)

I've had my eyes on a hose setup for Eon's. Just cannot justify the upgrade. Got too many heads....Got a non self igniting Turbotorch head as well,

No, I only solder 3 inch copper to fix the F-ups that my builder's plumbing contractor made to my main stack when my houlse was built in 1971. And thats when I open up a wall and see it. By now, I think they're all fixed (I hope).

I've worked with a lot of BX myself, and still have a couple of 250' rolls of it in my attic. Of all the wiring I've done, the only problem I had was with BX because of my carelessness in prepping one cut end that was too bad to even keep the red hat bushing from protecting a wire. But that was in the 70's also. Now I am older and much more careful in everything I do.

I grew up in NYC and all the residential wiring I ever saw back then was BX or whatever they called armored cable back then.
When I moved to LI, it was Kleenexville, and I was lucky that only some of mine was aluminum, which I replaced with copper Kleenex.

Heh. I had a house out in Glen Cove. Crazy laws. Bought a new laundry machine. Needed a licensed plumber to install it. Serial # on file. Too much policys and procedures.
