Guys it me again I have a sewage pipe that runs through my Cement basement wall into septic tank . Last night here in Cincinnati it pour down the rain ,my wife wakes me up telling me our water pipe busted . The ground water was coming in around the main sewage pipe where it went through the wall . The builder cut a hole after basement was poured ran the pipe and put Hyd cement around it .nowadays few years later water pouring in. My question is there ( has to ) a better way to do that?thanks George

Chip out hyd cement pack oakum around the pipe as tight as you can get it, reaplly hyd cement, this has worked for me in the past.

Same for me. Had my water supply line professionally replaced once. The line comes into my basement about 3 feet below grade. They filled the hole around the pipe with silicone. Guess what! Water poured in. I cleaned the silicone out and packed it with hyd cement. Didn't use the oakum, but packed the cement in as far as possible and squeezed as tight as possible with a stiff putty knife. It's been 20 years and still hasn't leaked a drop. I know of no other product that will do any better. Gotta work fast because hyd cement really has a very short open time. If you have a large area, use several batches.

When I first came to this area, I had a job that required hyrdraulic cement. I told the purchasing agent to get me some. He came back and said no one had it or knew what it was, and asked if I could use a different product that we used for the bottoms of manholes. I said okay, so he called a sealant supplier to order some. THe supplier said, "We don't have any, could you use hydraulic cement instead?"
