Several years ago, Saturday Night Live did one of their commercial spoofs on something similar. It was called the Love Toilet and the concept was very similar except that the bowls faced in opposite directions. The positioning of the tank was almost like a small table between the bowls. I believe they had Kevin Nealon and either Jan Hooks or Victoria Jackson sitting on the thing with their pants down, drinking wine and gazing lovingly at each other, acting as if they were on the hottest date ever.

No, it was designed more like a "love seat" where the toilets were side-by-side but facing opposite and joined at the tank. Imagine the letter "S" with the open parts being where you sit.
