My existing bathtub surround is tileboard. the bathtub is 5' long--the height of the tileboard above the tub is 5' . there are no seams except for the corners. I want to replace the tileboard but can only find 4'x8' sheets . The existing tileboard in my bathroom is clearly 5'x5'. I can not find anything but 4'x 8' . Does anyone know if 5' wide tileboard is still available ? 4x8 doesnt work without seams and a lot of waste. thanks

What exactly do you mean by "tileboard"? There are products used to install tile, called cement board, or durock, which come in 3x5 foot sheets. There are other products, such as Hardibacker, Wonder Board and Denshield which are used for this purpose also. I probably have forgotten one or two others.

If you are looking at sheet products 4x8 feet in size, I wouldn't think they are used to install tile. So the question is, what do you want to do - install new tile or something else?

I believe you have what is called a "tub surround kit" : molded acrylic panels, glued to the drywall. These are made by companies such as Maax Premium, American Shower and Bath, etc. They are widely sold in plumbing supply and box-type stores.

by tileboard, i am meaning the masonite backed sheet with artificial tiles on the money side made of a plastic like material-i have found the product at home depot however they do not carry anything but 4x8---what exists now around my tub is at least 5x5--may have originally been 5x8--there are no seams but for the corners and it is 5' tall and 5 feet wide to back a 5 foot tub--thanks for the responses

The msonite tile board you describe is not allowed and should never be used in a shower. The tiniest scratch, or tiniest hole in a caulk bead, masonite practically explodes in the presence of moisture.
