Testing Recirc. Pump

I have a Grundfos UP10-16BU/ATLC (confort series) that I would like to bench test prior to installation. I just want to make sure that the pump itself is good and not DOA. Can anyone point me to information on a good way to test and verify that it is pumping correctly? It seems that it might be difficult to prime, and I don't want to damage anything.
