Ever heard of "State" brand tankless W.H.?

The plumbing/heating company that might have install a complete heating system and tankless HW heater likes to use "State" brand on demand WH. Has anyone heard of this company? He also claims not to get good support from Rinnai.

Dana, since I am near you (in Palmer, MA), is local Rinnai support questionable?

Our HW needs are minimal. One shower, 2 sinks, and a clothes washer. Very small house.

State/A.O. Smith tankless water heaters are manufacturered by Rinnai for them and relabeled and sold as "State". A few years back it was Noritz that made the units for them and in the near future it will be Takagi, as they are entering into a US joint venture recently.

Thanks for the info. So, does that make the "State" brand of WH as reliable as the Rinnai?

The Rinnai "Generic" state heater is/was just that...a Generic Rinnai. You don't get any support from Rinnai on it, only from state for what that is worth adn they are tank people there.

Now The Rinnai/State relationship is over and State has bought Takagi USA. It will be interesteing to watch what happens. State has fought tankless so far and now that they have a big interest in the market it will be intersting to see what resources they throw at it and how they intend to go after market share. State is a big company full or smart folks.

The previous offerings both went down in flames as the tank giant simply went after existing business with "Mee Too" generic product from both Noritz and then Rinnai running around after their business trying to capture some of it with a lower price to go with the lack of support and everything else. Now that they have to show a profit instead of just mucking up the works and a vested "Real" interest in tankless as a product catagory, I'll bet you see new and interesting things.
