low or no water pressure

I need some guidance here.Im on private well system.Last night after pump shut off i heard a loud bang in pipes later water pressure dropped to almost zero in all faucets,
This morning after getting up i heard pump running i assumed it ran all night i shut off well power and heard what i blieved to be water draining back down pipes.I turned well power back on but i do not believe well pump is running(at least i cant hear it) i do feel vibration in pipes indicating that it may be running..Faucets are down to a trickle
As some followup to this post within last week i have noticed that on occasion when i turn on the tap water it will suddenly stop and then start flowing could this indicate problem with pump or pressure switch?

It sounds like the drop pipe in the well is ruptured/leaking. Probably best to call in a well/pump business for proper diagnosis & repair.
