All,

As you can see in the pics, the little elbow coming out of the house is a little cracked and I'm missing 10-12" of pipe needed to get to the opening of the buried drain pipe. Best way to solve this issue?

To make matters worse, the pipes aren't 100% lined up. I did have one brainstorm that involved a fernco coupling...is that acceptable to use out in the open, or do those have to be buried or something?

FYI - I'm not 100% sure if the black elbow from the house is PVC.

I appreciate any advice!

The black pipe is ABS, which glues up similarly to PVC, but is not compatible. ABS and PVC use different types of adhesive.

The cracked 1/4 bend is glued to a piece of straight ABS pipe which is going through the foundation. The pipe will need to be cut off inside of the foundation and then each part can be replaced and added to as needed.

Maybe not for the DIYer, but I would cut the elbow, then try to peel the hub from the pipe, before I would cut it inside the building. In fact, since the wall is patched, you could remove some of the patch, cut the elbow off at the pipe, and glue a new elbow on easier than removing the pipe through the wall.

Those pipes are not supposed to be connected. That is a typical air gap setup for a sump pump. That gap should not be that big though 2-4in is normal. I'll try to attach a diagram...though it appears the file size limit is too small to attach any of them.

I had to crop out and shrink the file to meet the file limit, but I think the image is self explanatory.
