We had a new sink, new faucet and new white PVC type drain pipes installed in our kitchen (reinstalled the old disposal) six weeks ago, all work completed by a licensed plumber.
Whenever we open the cabinet under the sink, an extremely strong, oily chemical type smell is present. I have cleaned all of the plumbing under the sink as much as possible, but the odor persists. Does anyone know what this is? Could it be the underside of the sink, or some plumbing adhesive? Will it dissipate at some point? Is it hazardous?
Thank you!!

If the PVC is glued, that odor will persist for a while, but should go away.. How about leave the cabinet door open, and maybe even blow some fresh air in there with a fan.
