We installed a Pedrello shallow well jet pump and connected everything, but when the pump comes it kicks the circuit breaker off. when we reset the circuit breaker, it just happens again. What is going on here? The pump is 115V and should work fine with our electrical system.

check the wiring for shorts. If the wiring to the pump is OK you may have either wired the pump wrong or you have a bad pump

Check the wires on the pressure switch.
If the wires coming from the breaker are on the same side, it will trip the breaker.
One from the breaker and one from the pump should be on the same side, and the other from the breaker and other from the pump should be on the other side.

Just a thought.

Short somewhere!

You've got a short somewhere. Since it is a 115 volt pump I doubt that the pump is wired up wrong. However as Waterwelldude mentioned the wires on the pressure switch may be misconnected. Possibly a bad splice or skinned wire below the water line. Check each wire with an Ohm meter. High ohms, one lead grounded and the other test lead to the wire going to the pump. Any reading means there is a short somewhere.

Sorry I missed reading the shallow well pump part. It just sounds like the wires are connected wrong in the pressure switch.

Most shallow well pumps are 115/230 volt. The converson wires could be improperly connected however it usually wouldn't trip, the pump would just run slow.
