Cadet 3 fill valve drip question

I'll start by saying that I am a complete noob with plumbing. My father in law helped me replace our ooooold toilet with a Cadet 3. After browsing the forums AS doesn't seem to be held in high regard but I only found this site after this issue...it seemed fine for the first week.

Now, it drips from the top of the fill valve (I think that's the term) even after flushing. It's not constant and it's not a lot of water but it is annoying. I've put coloring in the bowl and let it set 15 minutes and it doesn't leak into the bowl. I've checked the fill tube and it's above water level.

I've tried adjusting the water level but it doesn't seem to help. It's a fluidmaster fill valve and on their website and other youtube videos I've found there is a metal clip that adjusts the water level. I don't have that; I have a vertical rod that I can turn/screw to the left or right and it will adjust but still the problem exists.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance...this forum already taught me a few things in the little bit that I've searched. :D

You may want to pull the top off the valve and see if there is any dirt there.
The hardware stores carry the replacement rubber seal for it too.

Is it easy to pull the top off? Last thing I want to do is damage it since I'm not good at any of this.

I will put up a new thread if I don't get an answer but I too have a Cadet 3 question. I've had it since September and it has worked perfectly. Now it won't shutoff without me manually taking the lid off and pulling the lever on the water control. The only setting I can see to adjust is that same level which can be turned left or right.

Neither direction is doing anything for me.

Is this a problem with water height or can the water control device be faulty already after only a couple of months of use?

Any tips on what to try would be appreciated.

Thanks and I'll check that out today.

Update : I have two ideas now. One from the Fluidmaster site which involves flushing debris from the valve top. Plus I called American Standard and they said to loosen the water control and reorient it. Hopefully one works. I'll update again if I'm successful.

It was solved by turning the water off. Then adjusting the water control to have it further from the tank liner. Back to working well. When they are making these toilets to use less water by use of these inserts they should take into consideration how close that brings them to the water control. There is a indentation in the liner but its not big enough. How about just have the hole farther into the tank? Anyway it's working.

It's called workmanship.

If they had it, you wouldn't be fixing it for them.
