Taylor Love looking out at Snow Lake, situated in the Central Cascades of Washington.
A fairly easy hike of six miles round trip, with further options to go farther and to more lakes.
1,300 feet of elevation gain.

Taylor getting ready to dive in near the outlet of the lake.
Even during the last few days of August, the water is cold.
Around the lake on parts of the South shore you can still see snow many feet deep.
It's a clear and cold lake.

Hiking down to Snow Lake. It's about three miles to this point, and 1300 feet of gain before getting to the ridge overlooking the lake.

If you stay in long enough, the water seems to get better. Most of the guys were diving in and out very quickly. I was hanging out letting my body cool down from hiking in high heat. I just let the cold take over.
