Hi,
I've been pondering an air balance system to install in our mountain cabin. The plan is to create 2 plenums in the corners of two outside walls that run vertically from 1st to 2nd floor, with an inlet near the ceiling of the 2nd floor, a duct fan near the inlet, and an outlet near the floor on the 1st floor. We have lower level bedrooms and living area is on 2nd floor. Even heat has always been an issue between floors. I just thought this could help a bit, but am wondering about code and fire issues. This will be a permitted job (bundled with an existing remodel), but wanted to get some preliminary info before getting too far along.
