Hi,
Our sewage ejection pump is dead and we need to replace it. We've been quoted a price of $2000 to replace which, as you can imagine, is a lot of money! We've been toying with the idea of replacing the sewage ejection pump ourselves, but are a little apprehensive since it is in sewage. Can anyone offer any advice on contracting this out or replacing it ourselves?

Thank you in advance for any help!

If you were to get the old one out and find some model numbers etc. someone might find a replacement or comperable pump for you.

pump

For $2,000 it had better be a very large pump, since most residential ones sell for approximately $600.00 and are usually easy to replace. But there can be situations that increase the cost substantially, depending on the location, and degree of difficulty in removing the old one.

I would find out from a supplier of pumps, why buys them.

Not all plumbers like doing this, and those that don't may be padding it some to discourage you from having them do the work.

There are outfits that do this type of work all the time.

All you need to do is have the pump sized correctly for your application, and if this is a normal sewage ejector it shouldn't really be a big deal to switch out! Just reverse the procedure of taking the old pump out! :D
