Do I need to support the toilet tank?

My mom rents out the house next door and it needs a new toilet.
It's a weird rough-in and the new standard toilet would be maybe 3" from the wall. Do I need to put some wood between the tank and the wall or is it okay to leave it free standing?

Tanks don't normally touch the wall.
It's fine.

If you have a 14" rough, options are

1) Use a 12" rough toilet.
2) Use a toilet that uses a 14" Unifit adapter. It will pull the bowl back 2"

Thanks Terry. I guess I was worried that some tenant would lean way back, hard!

Part of the reason I'm replacing it is because the tank lid is broken right near the handle... I can just see somebody getting cut. Ouch.
