I have an oil-fired furnace with integrated hot water. It works great in the summer but come winter whenever we take a shower (or especially a bath) the hot water drops in temperature to about 110 degrees before the furnace kicks on to bring the temp back up (even though I have the low setting at 130 degrees).
A little background; the furnace is 3 years old and has a 4 gallon water reservoir as compared to my old 8-gallon which worked great. To help the problem I tried installing a new mixing valve, no noticeable difference. I also replaced the honeywell controller with the same model (Because of a bad relay, but I was also hoping it would help my recovery problem to)...no change either. I have two babies, so I am hesitant to turn up the low temperature setting.
Am I stuck with cold snap in the middle of my showers forever unless replacing the water reservoir?
