Bladder tank pressure gauge question

I have a bladder tank with a pressure gauge on the tank tee . Today I looked at the pressure gauge & it read 44 lbs. I checked the air pressure in the bladder tank with a tire pressure gauge & it read 38 lbs. Shouldn't both pressures have read the same ? The pump wasn't running & no water was being used . If both pressures should be the same one of the gauges must be wrong .

That's right, same pressure and the gauges should read the same. And the pressure should be 1-2 psi less than the pump's cut in pressure setting with no water in the (bladder type) tank.
