If/when my shallow well jet pump dies I would like to replace it with a submersible, to minimize headaches with the jet system when shutting the well down for the winter. BUT the water in my wide but shallow well is only about 20 inches from the bottom. Is there a very short sub that might work for me?

How "wide" is the well? If it is 3 ft there are some possibilities.

It may also be possible to put a 6" diameter pipe in the bottom of the "wide" well to accept a standard submersible pump.

Hi Bob,

The well is about 30" wide, concrete casing. 12 ft to water level and another 20" to the bottom. The current 1/2hp jet pump works fine but it's a pain drain everything when shutting the system down for the winter. This is used for May-October in Massachusetts on a summer cottage.
