Hi, I have a 2 year old waterace shallow well pump from lowes,, that has been supplying water to my water source heat pump for the past 2 years. The well is over 20 years old ,,2" pvc with a 1.25 drop pipe about 18' down. I do have a small bladder tank.
I noticed over the weekend that the pump is not able to reach the shutoff pressure when the heat pump unit is running,,,, before it would cycle on and off.
How can I tell what is wrong?? is it the crappy pump?? or maybe the footvalve?

My heat pump only needs about 2gpm and I'm getting that but something is not right

Thanks for any help,
Don

Yes it's a crappy pump, but the fact that it does not cycle anymore is a great thing. Whoever set it up to cycle on and off didn't do you any favors.

If you must use a pump that produces enough water to make it cycle on and off while the heat pump is running, look into Cycle Stop Valves as a solution before you burn up a motor. Your lite bill should like it also.

The cycle stop valve sounds like a great product that I will have to look into,,,, but right now I would like to understand why the pump is not producing.
In years past, with a wayne 1/2hp pump, I could run a small sprinkler and my WS heat pump at the same time.
Right now the temperatures are close to 100 everyday,,,
I'm scared to breakdown the pump. No well water no air conditioning.

The pump setup is all me,, I opted for a smaller tank with more start cycles over a larger tank that I thought I would need to insulate very well.
The CSV sound better and better the more I think about it.
Thanks Don

It's the only answer if you want your motors to last a while.

I think you might need a new Jet Pump as well from the sound of it.
