Problem with 2 piece American Standard Toilet

Hi,

I have a circa 1950 American Standard toilet with separate tank and bowl. The tank and bowl are attached by a 2" OD chrome elbow. Right now the elbow is connected to the tank by a giant wad of glue. How is it supposed to be connected?

slip nuts and washers. IF you hadn't stated it was from the 50's, I would have guessed more like the 30's or early 40's.

You could install a new flush el & spud... Joy, oh Joy!

or, maybe it's time to upgrade from the last century!
