I have a deep well jet pump, Franklin Electric 1/2 HP Motor and a Simpson Sears Pump Casing... The motor is just screaming and it sounds like a fire alarm going off.....

What do I do ????

- Replace motor

- Rebuild motor

- Replace pump and motor

Can I remove just the motor off to get it looked at with out doing any harm or without water being everywhere. The motor is mounted on with four bolts, what happens if I remove the four bolts ??? Will it allow me to remove the motor safely and disconnect the electricity ????

Thanks

Sears and Roebuck, but I have never heard of Sears Simpson.

No matter, you can change the bearings if the unit looks new enough to be rebuilt. If it's old and nasty looking, a new pump might be in order.

You can not get the motor off by removing the four bolts unless the Pump has a Coupled Shaft. That means a coupling with a set screw to seperate the Impeller from the Motor Shaft. 95% of the Pumps today don't have the Coupled Shaft.

Thanks Bob ....

Simpson Sears is the company before the name Sears..... The pump is cast iron .... yeah I know its old

I remove the for bolts and took the Franklin motor off. Water everywhere but it came off no problem. Impeller is attached to the end.

Got motor rebuilt, sanded and painted for $75 .....

Great deal and I have never heard it soooo quiet ....

Thanks again
