Hi-I have an external pump with a wellmate WM-9 tank. It currently services only our barn from our house's basement.

The problem is the water will cut out intermittently after being run for only a little while at the spigot. If I hit the primer switch, the pump runs for only a few seconds, and then all is OK, indicating to me that the pressure is still pretty good when the water flow stops. I think it is set about 40 PSI. I checked the air pressure in the tank and it is 25 psi (I also get a water flow out of the air valve when I check it).

I am inexperienced with these systems and appreciate any advice-do I need to charge the tank up to match the pump setting? Could it be the pump switch contacts? Or is the water from the air valve a bad sign?

Thanks for your help!

If you are getting water from the air valve then your bladder is bad and you need a new tank.
