Need advice on a tool

If the nut was originally tightened by hand that is why it leaked.

So just how tight should this be? The foam gasket is pretty much squashed and the drain is tight to the pan. The seal comes from the silicone, surely not the metal to fibreglass joint?

Once the rest of the bathroom is complete I'll jump back on this drain. We only have access to the shower sporadically as it is, with tile work etc. going on, so it's important to have a functioning shower whenever possible.

Did I mention this is the only bath in the house with a shower or tub? ;) Thankfully we have good friends with showers.

Man, that Davke drain is worth the price just for the super-cool special effects in that video ;)

That Special effects video??? You couldn't see the fishing line? It was Hokey!

The product looks great though! I think I'll get one of those to keep on the truck! It should cure many of my shower drain repair headaches!

I spoke with Mike the inventor of the drain. Looks good enough - I especially like the no-hub version as it would eliminate all the brute force involved in getting the gasket around the drain pipe in the 2000 model and in drains like my Kohler. However it then leaves a mechanical joint hidden in the wall, but I guess these sorts of couplings get buried in concrete etc. so it would likely be just fine.

They're manufactured in China for what its worth, but Mike invented them and holds the patent. Seems like a combination of a sink disposal unit mount and a shower drain.
