1 year out-if I could do it over again...

As a consumer with zero plumbing skills and after learning a lot here:

I would have bought the Toto Soiree suite for my master bath instead of the Kohler Memoirs suite. No question about it.

The Aquia sold me.

From what I've learned and from personal experience Kohler's quality control SUKS.
I still recommend some of their designs-a few are pretty good but you need to know going in the risks of getting a lemon.

I'm betting that their flawless appliances all get shipped to the high end showrooms for clients who pay a premium. This is my guess.
I hope I won't have to do battle with them regarding parts in the future.

Toto simply doesnt have the quality control problems that AS & Kohler do
from what I understand.

You would think a family like Kohler would take a little more pride in quality. They managed to get a city named after them for chrissake..
Maybe the ads are more important to them.

Things have come a long way since old man Kohler developed his "Pig Scalder". But the quality hasn't.

you said it all about Kohler....and American Standard

considering that they both have a parts catalogue
the size of the yellow pages (3 inches thick)

its a nightmare to get parts for any of their faucets


they are about on the same level as Price Fister..

make a whole new design run every two or three years and the hell
with what they produced 4 eyars ago...

It needed saying from a consumer. I recommend a few designs on occasion but overall I'm staying away from them in the future.

I really think I got lucky. But as Terry noted the memoirs toilet did in fact need shims.
Looking back..the base of both sink and toilet could have been much better finished/level.

It sure sounds from what Ive read here...that Kohler is Dumping their
"seconds" in both big box store inventories.

Can't prove it---but it walks like duck.

There-I said it.

And they get away with it by discounting some desirable designs.
Which of course also screws the high-end retailers as well.
