If I were to go away for a week in the winter time (freezing temperatures) would it be smart to turn the pump off while I was away? What are the pro's & con's for doing this?

I'm worried that if anything went wrong with the furnace, the pipes could burst and my house would be flooded while I was away.

Static water level is 160ft down.

Unless your pump is supplying water for a boiler I don't see a problem with this.

I would be just as concerned with the damage done to the plumbing system if the heat went off. If your worried this might happen you might want to winterize the home.
